Bio: Dr. Malek Safa specializes in oncology and hematology with an emphasis on gastrointestinal cancers. He earned his degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon, and completed his residency at Indiana University Medical Center. He completed a fellowship at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he joined the staff and became the director of the GI oncology program and the program director of the hematology and oncology fellowship program. Dr. Safa is Board Certified in Internal Medicine since 2009, Medical Oncology since 2011, and in Hematology since 2004. He is an associate clinical professor of medicine at Wright State University.
Dr. Safa has participated as an expert panelist for Community Cancer Education Day for Colorectal Cancer at the University of Cincinnati and for the Netwellness Organization. He has presented numerous local and national lectures on GI Cancers including colorectal, esophageal, pancreatic and also melanoma. Dr. Safa has been published in multiple journals and wrote multiple book chapters. He has worked extensively with the veteran population and completed research on hematological and oncology issues in the veteran population
